To make your own necklace, simply look for bold beads, pendants and chain. Make sure that the metals work together, and that the colors are in the same family either by hue or shade. For example, choose gold or silver, muted tones or brights. Group your selection together to see how the components harmonize and how much space each piece demands. To avoid unnecessary bulk, cluster your larger pieces to the front of the necklace and keep the section that will lie on the back of your neck very plain, maybe just simple smaller scale beads or medium chain.
